Introduction to Dangerous Goods Awareness and Regulations

It is a global Health, Safety, and Transport regulation that requires all personnel involved in the carriage of hazardous goods, at any stage from packing, consigning, loading, carriage, and unloading, to be suitably trained to carry out their duties safely. Notably, many commonplace items and substances can be hazardous, particularly when transported by air. Some of these items may leak or break during a flight due to factors such as temperature and pressure changes, potentially releasing toxic fumes or starting a fire. As a result, it is critical to understand the nature of such goods, their potential for causing incidents and accidents, and how they should be handled.

This course provides an introduction to handling dangerous goods at airports. It covers all stages of dangerous goods, beginning with the identification of potential risks, how to identify such risks, and the personnel responsibilities under all applicable regulations, all the way to emergency situations.

What to expect

The course is designed to all crew teams' members with the focus on their behavior and guidance of handling DGR.
Some of the world's worst transportation accidents have occurred as a result of improperly packed goods becoming dangerous in transit. Many goods, including common household items, are dangerous if not packed or stowed in accordance with international standards.
The course has theoretical lectures in the classroom and practical training in specific facilities for hands-on training in first aid, ditching, crash landing, biohazard response, fire and smoke procedures.
